Going to my first tournament this weekend. My friends crapped out on this game, so I needed to find opponents.

Good luck on the tournament. The local x-wing scene for me is so tournament heavy that their 'casual' play is nothing but practice for said tournaments. After playing both X-wing and Star Trek: Attack Wing, I'm not sure I like this particular business model, the whole thing doesn't feel like its going to last versus say; Warhammer, Battletech, and Warmachine. In addition, when certain cards are necessary to stay competitive, and these cards are given a 15$ price tag...I dunno just doesn't feel right. I've never faced this problem in Warhammer or Battletech. Their respective rules try to actually balance things for a long time versus the 'spot-welding' that X-wing and STAW do. I'm still going to play all the games I own, but I won't get as much fun out of X-wing/STAW because I'm too casual.

I lost pretty hard a few weeks ago, but those same players went to the Regional tournament. Out of 96 people, they placed something like 1st, 4th, and 8th, so I feel better.

Heh, what did you end up rolling with for a build?

Heh, what did you end up rolling with for a build? Dash Rendar with a Mangler Cannon over HLC with Chewbacca/Jan Ors Crew/Recon Specialist. I lost to another guy with Dash Rendar, but I destroyed his Dash first.

Welp despite my previous reservations; I'm going to give X-wing another shot, I'm going to see if Scum is the faction for my playstyle, if not I'll reconfigure my rebel inventory...
