Do you guys know about this? You Quickplay with people based on your Tier rating. That means all the newbs play each other and all the hackers/l33tz play each other. How are people supposed to get good at MW if they don't get their asses beat?

I mean, define 'asses being beat.' In a F2P game system where your ability to partake in the 'meta' is tied to a wallet (fictional or otherwise.) there will be a group of players who will just always have an advantage which skill can never make up for. I dont agree at all with this game design approach but that is what MWO is. Pay-to-win doesn't always equate to outright buying advantage, it can mean having a consistent advantage (however minor) over a set of games (like owning the best clan mech that a new player wouldn't be able to get.)
So given that, do I take your complaint as: any given new player should be repeatedly forced to fight other players who have built-in advantages just because they've sunk more money into the game?
All of this is of course also not addressing the question of desirable gameplay in MWO, ie 'what is fun'. I tried playing last year, and 'what is fun' apparently was things like -nakedly hewing to the strictest meta requirements -demanding a given 'damage output' total for specific players in specific chassis -following specific 'best' routes in the map or risking complete loss -if a player didn't do any of the above, they were spit upon by 'better' players
if the above is the definition of 'gitting gud' at MWO, count me out.

Yeah I really don't like how the meta is tied to the wallet. All mechs, all weapons, and all equipment should be 100% free to use with purchase of the game. They have "trial mechs" but you don't own them and can't configure them. Like rotating stock mechs.

That's total BS. Can't configure the mechs they start you with? Fuuuuuuuuuuuck them.

and they couldnt even organize the unlocks into a cool 'tech tree' like World of Tanks, so with your wallet; you can just buy the current 'best mechs' and deploy them. Also another design gem: to unlock all the 'special traits' for any mech chassis you have to level up 3 different variants of that mech by grinding. Just want the most fun Hunchback variant 'mastered'? too bad, go suffer in 2 other hunchback variants whose gameplay style you hate and think its a waste of your time...or spend 60$....y'know the price of full AAA games. Honestly I dont know why the Mechwarrior Community has put up with being fleeced at every turn by PGI, I guess nostalgia blinds you into thinking 140$ on a single mech (and its variants) is 'good value'...when in reality there is no 'normal' price for 3d, virtual mechs...

I've been playing a Jenner F, but I am not going to buy the other mechs(with C Bills or real bills) just to get a few extra perks. And I don't even use Consumables, I rely on my aim.
