I've been playing MechWarrior 3 for a long time and I've always been interested in attempting to create my own map/level but the problem is I have no idea on what tools are needed and such nor would I know how to load a map in once it were created. I have created maps for other games, mainly on the Source engine, which is fairly easy as they come with their own level editor but as far as I know Mw3 doesn't have individual map files or at least I haven't found them and there is the unique and odd .zbd format. Would anybody be able to give me some pointers? This game is very old and a lot of information has sadly been lost due to web/linkrot.

I take it that c1, c2, c3, c4 stand for campaign and the respective map for each operation with c4b being the snowy area, the lava area and the final battle area. (A.k.a snowfields, lavapit and batchall). I think it's safe to say that t1 must be the training map as there is only one and it begins with a t.
From what I can gather .zbd files are simply a compressed file used by Zipper Interactive to store textures, model data and sounds. I have no idea on how to decompress or recompress a .zbd file or what format is used for the models and textures. Chances are I will join the Discord as it seems very inactive on here now sadly. If only there were a resource thread for this sort of thing I'd read through that.

Unfortunately the Discord link isn't working from the other thread. Would you be able to post a new link?

Never mind the new one was already in the top bar of the page. I didn't see that at first.
