Yeah. I just now came to a realization: They are making so much money there will never be another standalone MechWarrior PC game with singleplayer made commercially. They will continue to try to figure out ways to make money using this online "free to play" business model, and it will never end. The days of having an "all in one" MechWarrior game are gone and will only return if someone has the balls to do MechWarrior mods like MWLL. Kindof a bummer...because no one will. Why? because they're too busy playing this one, and HOPING the greedy bastards at mwo will address the bad points. They'll always say they will, but they won't. It will continue to be driven by the almighty dollar and players won't matter. The majority of players will continue to buy stuff and accept it as more and more gets crammed down their throats and they will all just follow the herd like sheep. Sad but true.
I suppose there's always hope for guys like me and Nynx who have a passion for doing something. Time will tell.

To makes things perfectly clear- "This is not jumping the shark, let me repeat that again, this is NOT jumping the shark... This is jumping the shark. coming back. Shooting at the balls! Raping it! Eating its flesh! Consuming its soul! Mount its head on the wall! And then do the same thing to 12 more sharks just to be safe!"
Answer from PGI: Screw the rules fandom, we have money!
Curse you, PGI! You've killed Mechwarrior!!!! Just lke EA Killed Ultima with Ultima 8 or 9!
Yes I'm making (slight) references. I can't think of any creative rants.

It has been the trend in gaming for a while now: take an older beloved franchise...and suck out its soul by making it a F2P mess where they charge exorbitant fees on items that used to come packaged with a 'full' game. F2P is a pro-business design model that insults the users of a product, I despise it completely.

I dont know if F2P is exactly the cause of sheeple, I believe it to be more nuanced.

Please note that this is a clip from the Nostalgia Critic's review of Doug's First Movie.

I've only see F2P work two times without the company screwing people over: DC Universe Online and Path of Exile.
The backbone of MWO is points/credit/real money.
One way to play something like MechWarrior is the miniature game Robotech, but I hear the creator is known for complicated rules.
It's a shame that to win in MWO as a team, you need to pimp out your mechs by using real money. I wish the Mechlab was completely open to players like in MW3 and MW4. The creators of Path of Exile kept their game completely away from Pay 2 Win options. They make millions just from cosmetic effects. I don't see how PGI missed the boat on this, oh wait I do. That greed is a powerful thing. And with the dollars rolling in, they aren't going to listen to criticism.
And we thought Microsoft was bad with MW4. lmao

Ha, good points Stoney. And the players will just keep on eating it up like candy.

It's a form of desperation, the MW community was without an official mechwarrior title for almost a decade. PGI knew this and rolled out a minimum viable product, even said so themselves. I think what really damaged the whole thing was watching the playerbase's willingness to pay ridiculous prices for mechs: 30$ for a mech in MWO!? a virtual item that does not have true material value. An assault mech miniature in battletech is half that primarily because the miniature exists in a physical form of pewter complete with manufacturing, labor, and shipping costs. And yet, the playerbase ate those prices up and that set the tone going forward. People vote with their wallets, and here, they got what they voted for...

So here's the latest "sale". mwomercs.com/news/2015/02/1082-primary-objective-mark-ii-eventI didn't do more than give it a glance, but my impression is that this is just a weak attempt to lure people into the game in the guise of "giving people a break". Typical bait and switch tactic. I'm appalled even more. The thing of it is, as a gamer, I don't give a crap about all those idiotic little ways you can get 50% off...I just wanna play! Does the average player really give two shits about all that complicated malarkey? Really?

I say that PGI are like the Michael Bay, the M Night Shyamalan, the Frank Miller, the Joel Shumacher, The Uwe Bowel, the TMNT3, The Batman&Robin, the Bayformers, the Bay-turtles, The Coming Out Of Our Shells Tour, the Last Airbender (the crappy movie adaption, not the awesome (as I heard) show) of Mechwarrior development!

PGI: Hey there, Die-Hard Mechwarrior gamers (DHMWG), do you love Mechwarrior 3? DHMWG: Sure do! PGI: Don't mind if you try out our Mechwarrior Online? DHMWG: Nah, that's okay, I love MW3! PGI: No. You love MWO. DHMWG: Um. I'm pretty sure I love MW3 *PGI takes away all past Mechwarrior games and trashes them* PGI: Look at that! MWO killed off your favorite MW games! Now you gotta play MWO! DHMWG: Poor, MW3! PGI: You will love MWO!!!! DHMWG: No, PGI!!! PGI: RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGH!!!!!!!! Whoa. That was a pretty dark scenario.
