...still haven't done the JJ's... Oh well. Not in a hurry since it's not going into any games. Too many faces for MW3...

Herby, how about taking the mech3 mesh of the orion and messing around with it? Using the textured details as a template try and duplicate them on the actual mesh. Let's see what that looks like, then we add improvements from there?

Yeah. I can do that. One problem I've already run into with that approach is that some of the details are so blurry and undefined that it's hard to make out exactly what they're supposed to represent.
If you're thinking about putting modified meshes back into the game... it may or may not work. Depends on the game and how far it's willing to go. What we've been finding out is that the game runs pretty much on the edge. Adding a few dozen faces to a mech will probably not cause problems until a 6 or 8 player match is played. It may also limit games to only 4 players. Too bad MW3 doesn't use LODS.

Actually I'm not thinking about my 'mech3 mod at all. I'm thinking about experimenting with how the mech3 mechs will look with this work being done to them, for the new mod on jmonkey we're talking about.

I want to find out what I can get away with before I start.

try this page: jmonkeyengine.github.io/wiki/jme3/features.htmlJmonkey seems pretty versatile. I'm going to install it and give it a try. Robbi seems to want stuff in blender but it takes other formats. You'll likely have to use some kind of converter with the mech3 meshes.

There's a lot of cool crap in there... still have no idea of the limits.
