I did consider those a long time ago and I disagreed with some of the stats, especially the 1000 meter range of LRMs. BUT, the big thing about the "feel" of mercs and vengeance that you're talking about, at least for me, is that the mechs take damage differently than in 'Mech3, probably due to more hit boxes or maybe damage points are done differently on the armor but the bottom line is battles last a lot longer. So the only way I could recreate that in 'Mech 3 was by adjusting the weapons damage values lower across the board. I experimented with 25%, 20%, and finally settled on 15%, with some raises based on skill level required for things like the laser hang time. Also, RAC5 was just way too devastating when it was the full damage per slug so that had to be lowered.

Here's the culled c2 maps... It's a self-extracting zip so it already knows where to go but I think you might want to delete your other mp maps first (except mp1 and mp2) Attachments:c2.zip (42.06 KB)

Thanks. I'll get on them.
I like the 1000m LRMs. It feels more like a real long range missile. 800m seems too short. You never really get to use them at 800m range. You can rush LRMs and be on top of the mech before he has a chance to get more than one or two shots off. They feel more like a medium range weapon.

Yeah, battletech ranges have always been iffy, but to me 1000 always seemed like a hack. There is merit to what you say though. I say "hack" having tried it in the mod a long time ago, but in vengeance it didn't really feel like a hack.

I thought you were going to send me 'all' the maps? Where's the rest of them? Just sending me C2 is an insult.

lol sorry, I thought I was just sending you the c2 world culled and I was still working on the c3 world. Did not intend to insult you.

Hehe. It's not an insult. It's hard to transpose comedic expressions on the keyboard. It loses something in the translation... No. I offered to do 'all' the files so you wouldn't have to. I figured you had plenty of other things to work on. Just trying to not feel worthless. ...so... are you gonna send me the other files as you get done culling them? Have you already done some?

I'm already doing the c3 world so I'd like to continue, but I'll send you the c4 world after I cull that one...c4b let's see where we're at and maybe we'll end up splitting it.

Many of the maps are missing some of the environment aspect editing, and if I'm going to add them in it's going to be tedious so I have to decide if it's worth it based on future map creations I might do. I don't know, maybe I'll just let it ride.
Example: THUNDERBEACH doesn't have a choice for weather (duh...right? maybe it should? after all it's called thunderbeach) so is it worth it for me to go to the trouble of writing it in the code? It will be a big hassle...I'll basically have to take a Finnegan map using the same area, and completely re-make thunderbeach using a finnegan map as a template. Pain in the ass.

No point in messing with them. There will still be plenty
I made one pass through all the maps and brought the temps into range. The ones I found outside the range were set to the min/max settings and saved. I changed the boundaries of one map so far.
How do you add/remove points? MFB, boundary, etc? All it lets me do is move points. It doesn't let me add anything or remove anything.

when you have the map on display, go to the "missions" tab and you'll see the choice for "allow mfbs" and click it. (assuming your map doesn't have any) Sometimes if it's an old ice map that someone created it'll only allow 1 mfb, or maybe even none, because it's not in the script and whoever made the mission used a previous version of the mission editor that didn't have mfb's. If that happens then I'll have to write it in the script. Or not, given what we just talked about above.

I found some maps that had the wrong map displayed. Changed them. One map had sloppy boundaries so I fixed them. A few maps were so small that they didn't warrant enabling MFB's I didn't mess with weather or colors.
I need to go into the maps and see where the MFB's are and if there's any problems... 1) One map had only 1 MFB point. Should I enable it anyway? 2) what happens if you don't get the altitude correct for MFB's? Will they find the surface and relocate or with they stay buried or hang in mid air?

You can edit the "z" for the mfb's in the toolbar. So it's trial and error...edit, then go in game and see if it's on target, etc..
Yeah, there's a lot with the wrong map and sloppy boundaries.
Some fog colors are just ridiculous so I usually change them to something more normal.
Your choice if you want to enable 1 mfb.
