So this happened in the "battle" scenario? What happened sounds like just a basic game crash...yes it happens sometimes in single player too. I still am perplexed about the boundary thing.

My own mech?!? Wow! I'm special. Thank you very much I'm also very excited to learn that there are more adjustments that are applicable. It's very encouraging to know that there is always room for adjustments or improvements. I guess it's not surprising that I was under the impression that you had a very narrow view when it came to suggestions. It's understandable because you're the veteran and mod author and I'm the annoying noob who's constantly making waves; like the pesky little dog that's always trying to pee on your leg. lmao Hey it's nice this game is in a sort of flux. Back in the day, you had to bring OP builds or play Stock(but then most people brought the 5 best Mechs). Your only chance for a non OP boating game was back in the game's prime when people would host games with the title "C6(all weapons, Non Unlimited Ammo, Stock(Heat) Maps, No Boats/Flamers." I used to love the Mechlab in this game, but after playing other games with their versions and listening to why people prefer other Mechlabs, I can see why sized hardpoints are nice to have. I think Mech4 did a good job, but MWO has a garbage Mechlab.

I'm convinced it was a Game lag/hang kind of thing. Never happened again. ...more like the little dog that pees on your leg right after he rips your pillow to shreds... you know? the one you want to shoot? I went on line and found these MW3 mechs and decided to copy them for reference. I didn't get all of them but I got most. You probably already know about these but I thought I'd let you see them anyway just in case... Mechwarrior 3 mech data

Ok, so instant action is also single player  ....yes, trust me it was a crash. I've had it happen enough to know. Do you have one of my instant action mods installed, and if so which one? I'll do a run through and look at the boundaries.

I checked that file out. Interesting to look at. I did put a lot of those variants in the mod and you can get all their information from Sarna.net the battletech resource. Any variants I didn't include were either not part of the 'MechWarrior 3 time period or carried weapons I didn't include in the weapons mod. I also decided that another line of thought for variants in this mod would be to consider my whole reasoning for having these extra weapons during Operation Damoclese, and that will be part of my final mod of the campaign story: The Jags, on their way to Tranquil, discovered a planet, possibly one of the planets where Kerensky's forces had stopped on their way when they were leaving the inner sphere, where they found brian cache's full of lostech...as well as "something" else that will be revealed in the final mod of the campaign.

Sample Well. This thing is open in Truespace 7. Don't have a clue how this program works yet but it does open COB files I think I'm ready to start fixing those little annoyances that we discussed. The only thing that concerns me is the game file path to the texture maps... we'll see how it goes.

Right. Yup I knew that might be a possible problem. I looked at the champion again recently and those missile racks I mentioned are closer to the outer part of the arms than I previously remembered. The thing to do might be to cut off the arm where the "laser" portion meets the "missile rack" portion, but that might look dumb after the arm gets blown off...if it even works.
It will still be interesting to see what you can do, and to see if the pelvis guns can be attached to the torso without moving the x,y,z of the firepoints for them. (the gun-holes) The animation probabl;y won't follow that either. This project might need the help of EOP, the guy who made the mesh extractor, to see if he's willing to move some nodes around for us.

Well... The Champion is gonna live. The operation was a success. I did it in MAX. I had to cut the 'hip' block in half across the bottom of the gun barrels and attach the upper half to the 'torso'. It was the only way to get it to work without either causing unsightly interference or leaving the barrels hanging in mid air. The pic shows how it's going to work. I have it staged as it would appear in game with the 'torso' twisted somewhat in order to show the separation. I had to shrink the very top of the 'hip' block to reinforce the appearance of a definite separation. The pivots are still in exactly the same places as they were before surgery so it should function OK. Nothin fancy... I hope it converts back OK... The arm missile launchers can't be changed without redesigning the arm a little. I 'will' move them if you want. Let me know...  I have a gut feeling that the gun pivot is somewhere else in a sub (MEX) file. That means it's still tied to the hip block. The mesh animation should work and look just fine though. So... It'll move just fine but I don't think the gun anim will work correctly. If we had some way of knowing where these weapon points were located in the game we might be able to figure out how to move them. By the way. I'm going to convert 'all' the mechs into OBJ format so they'll all be easier to work with. I've got all LOD0, LOD1 for the Champion and Firefly converted. There's a hell of a lot of pieces and I'm molasses so it may take a while to get all the mechs.

Boy this firefly is a mess. I spent 2 hours on just fixing the mesh and maps. Not perfect but it'll do. I 'really' need a couple of different angled screen shots of this mech so I know what's going on with it. I can't tell where parts need to go. The translation is different than the Champion. I need to attach the remainder of the hip mesh to the torso mesh and can't tell where to put it. If I was building from scratch It'd be simple but I'm having to match specific coordinates. Am I frustrated? You bet I am. Am I having fun? You bet I am I know... that's all I'm good at. Complaining...

Are you kidding? Work is work and it ain't an easy task trying to fix something without fixing it, if you know what I mean...your efforts are appreciated!
I'm assuming by weapons points you mean the firepoints? where the weapon animates as if it's coming out of the gun hole. As far as I know the firepoints are simply fixed coordinates and I am going under the assumption that as long as they are part of the mesh like they always were (now a part of the edited mesh but existing on the same coordinates as they did before the "operation") then they will move with the torso. I realize it's a gamble, a lot of the modding has always been a gamble. Mish-mash is a gamble. We won't know if it works until it's put back in the game.

Here's the files I altered. If you need them in a different format to preserve the texture coordinates let me know. I'm set up now to do about any format. I'll do it here then you don't have to worry about the mech being 'white' in game champion.fltchampion_1.fltOk They do need to be in .cob format, thanks!

Guns added to torso Champion.COBFixed LOD1: Back torso map. Straightened Head mesh. Removed bad path & materials/maps in both thighs. Annihilator

So am I to understand you went and fixed the weird back mesh that happens to an annihilator when it's viewed from far away? What exactly caused it, a wrong mesh?
If a bad file path actually would take on a texture you know what that means don't you? It means our plans might actually work!
