Usually you have to have/be using the cd in order to get the music. If you use the no cd patch you might not get the music, even if you run the cd.

I recall having the same problems with the sound after installing XP years ago but I haven't tried the CD with win7 yet.

On sort of the same topic (skins)... well, it's a stretch. Does "anyone" know how to extract the texture files from the game? I'm trying to mod some mechs and all the meshes that are posted don't include them.

I am using my old WinXP box for most of my programs, including MW3. I have full install, with patch. No no-cd patch. So far (last 17 years) it works fine.
This machine is also not connected to internet, so there is no chance of anything changing without me doing it...

So, Yeah, using an iso you probably won't get the music.

Finn's texturizer is what you need to get the skins/textures for the mechs.
