<the following is pure opinion and does not condone underage drinking or excessive alcohol use>
I've tried the game again; its basically WoT. I played WoT for about 4 years, so MWO is ...serviceable
I still play it in contempt and the only way I get through a session is with some heavy liquor in the reserve tanks... [/i]

Drinking and driving 'mechs can be hazardous to your health!

MWO is far more the hazard; I tried to bring back one of my old gaming friend who played MW4 hardcore, who also played the MWO closed beta with me...he convinced me to uninstall it if only for my sanity. I acquiesced. MWO is awful - it has pretty much devolved into WoT, any given mech lasts about 30sec maybe less. Rounds are over in 5 minutes. Assualt mechs drop as fast as lights do, its really sad. To compensate, I bought Shattered Steel off Good Old Games for 6$... www.gog.com/game/shattered_steel

So what do you do after you lose a 'mech?

you either spectate the rest of the match or go back to the hangar. At the hangar you pick another mech and hit 'play'. If the match you were just in is still going, the mech you used for that match is 'locked' and you'll have to pick another one. The game gives you several 'trial' mechs from different weight classes that you can use as well but their loadouts are for battletech as a board game not for the meta of MWO aka they're trash.

So you really have no choice but to buy 'mechs. My real question is, after a 'mech you bought gets destroyed can you use it again or do you have to start all over again and buy your way to a good mech?

As far as I'm concerned, the MechWarrior franchise is dead and it's up to the fans to keep it going at this point. The people at Piranha are a bunch of idiots and liars. They couldn't make a half decent Battletech title even if they wanted to.

Here I am necroposting, but it's my site so nyah nyah... Oh, and it says "speak your mind" in the intro post here, so! Anyway, if it was a good Battletech game for PC then even the trashy/chumpy canon loadouts would work great.

completely agree; i would go so far as to heavily limit customization of IS chassis. Players say they love the customization element, but in a PvP environment all it will do is create a setup where a tiny handful of mechs are useful. MW4 handled this well with the 'hardpoint' system (which itself is sort of an evolution of the Earthsiege 2 hardpoint system.) The other big problem MW will always have is 'perfect accuracy,' the mech designs everyone loves were made for a tabletop game where you could not choose where to shoot someone....

I agree with heavily limiting IS customization. I would want to incorporate that somehow into a military ranking system.

Using the Alpha Strike tabletop system I created 'unlock' trees based on the generic roles, Example: Assault Mechs, 'Brawler' role. 1) BNC-3E Banshee 2) THG-10E Thug 3) BLR-1G Battlemaster 4) BLR-1D Battlemaster 5) BLR-1S Battlemaster
each is an assault mech, and a 'brawler' but you have to start in the crappier BNC-3E before you get to the sweet Battlemaster goodness. MWO should have had WoT style unlock trees and limited customization.
