Has anyone tried this yet? I'm waiting for Windows 10 to be stable first.

From what I've heard we should all just stay the hell away from windows 10 for as long as possible. It's supposedly going to spy on all of us for the government. I'll be happy with windows 7 for as long as possible.

I don't see why they need Microsoft's help. They all ready have control of cell phone and internet information. Greedy bastards.

the settings for spying can easily be disabled during install or after install. Second. MW3 and PM work on my windows 10 install. PM is glass smooth stable, MW3 with weapon, AI and enemy mods is stable with some CTDs. Still a problem accessing the options during gameplay (CTD). Trainers do not work for crap. Anti aliasing (super sampling) works, forcing normal AA (override app settings), completely ghosts the image. There are some bugs but it is about as workable as running win 7, the best is to just buy a cheap XP machine. Long story short, its a pita, you will need some odds and ends, but it can be made to work.
EDIT:
seems that stability issues in windows 10 mostly stemmed from the upgrade (from win 7 to 10), because after it crapped out on me and I had to reinstall, none of the band aid fixes worked, and once I got rid of them all (making it pretty much vanilla stock) it runs like pure butter. rarely crashes, wont even crash if I go into the options. For the first time im able to play through the game at my own leisure without annoying CTDs.
So heres a big hint, get your windows system as stable as possible (clean it up, defrag, registry clean etc), or do a fresh install and im telling you it will work better than you would ever believe. So yes Mechwarrior 3 and also Starsiege can be run on windows 10 without much problems.
If you are not doing a fresh install and you have issues, you can try putting an OpenGL DLL in the main game directory, it worked for me when my install was all borked up from the upgrade.

So, I am brand spanking new to the forum. I made the giant mistake of upgrading to 10, so I am definitely interested in if anyone has been able to get it to work. Full disclosure: I know next to nothing about computers. I am staring at the MW3 double disk, and my heart breaks. .... and I just got around to reading the previous comment. I have no fraggin clue what "OpenGL DLL" is

Welcome, and thanks very much for the info. To the ctd's with the mod I can only say this: back in the day 'Mech3 was always buggy, with ctd's during multiplayer that we used to call "LRM boot". What this is, in my opinion and possibly the opinions of others from back then, is that the 'Mech3 engine was rushed and not stable enough to handle it's own overload of code. So, when 8 to 16 players in multiplayer were all shooting LRM's that was a lot of visuals, graphics, sound effects and so forth going on at once, and most of us would get booted from the game. The clues to this theory are in the game code I've seen where certain visuals and sound effects were left out of 'mech3 off the shelf which tells me the devs "tweaked it down" to get it running smoother for release. Therefor based on this theory/opinion, when using my mods you're getting all of what 'mech3 should have been: all the weapons visuals and then some, all the sound effects and then some, plus more enemies shooting more weapons and performing more agile piloting due to enhanced AI which all adds up to vastly increased "sensory overload" for the game engine. But, this bug I can do nothing about. Instances of ctd are going to increase, and I have even made a major adjustment that I hoped would help and it probably has to a point. However, I can honestly say that as annoying as these can be, the instances of successful play does indeed outnumber the instances of ctd. And I have been playing with my mods for over 10 years on 3 different versions of windows. Windows 7 pro 64 bit seems to run it smooth as glass too. Bottom line is, to play my mods you'll need patience, but I like to think it'll be worth it. Btw, I do appreciate the review very much. It gives me a chance to talk about the mods, and it feels good to know that people are giving it a try. So thank you!

Most of the time it does, but when it doesn't and runs it looks like this

Mine wouldn't crash much but I did have that ghosting issue before I fixed my issues. Have you tried limiting your frames per second with bandicam or DxTory? try 30 FPS plus get the version 1.2 patch. If that doesn't work, people have made modded Mech3.exe files and someone has made a 1200x780(ish) resolution patch.
