The elemental claw idea sounds interesting, but as you said it would only be limited to singleplayer
A nice addition would be some sort of Flare launcher or illumination equipment which preferably should brighten a large portion of the battle location, but they use ammo

I nice idea, unfortunately beyond modding ability for mech3 right now unless I used existing animation. Closest thing to that would be the PPC ground flare animation...if I chose maybe the actual Narc missile as the "fly-out" animation for the weapon and made it go really slow it might work...but it only illuminates about a 30 meter area, and it would probably lag out the game like the stream-flamer did. And yes, it would require ammo. I'm actually intrigued by this idea and may in the future try to mess around with different animations for it. But it can't replace the flamer.

I think what I'm going to do is give the flamer a longer recycle time. I'm imagining that since flamers draw their energy from the 'mech's nuclear reactor then it follows that the recycle time should be at least as long as say a Heavy PPC...and also this energy draw should affect other systems on a 'mech, like slow the engine down temporarily as if one were walking in water. Raising the heat is the only way I can do that.
